Firefox Goes Mobile
Create the official emblem of the mobile version of Firefox!
You took back the web, now take it with you: Firefox is coming to mobile phones! This is a huge step towards our goal of providing access to one Web that everyone can enjoy regardless of device or location, and we're really excited about bringing Firefox's customization, usability and features to the world of mobile.
There's just one thing: we need help telling people about it, which is where our Firefox Goes Mobile design challenge comes in. The winning design will be displayed everywhere from mozilla.com to our Add-ons site to t-shirts and stickers, so your work has the potential to be seen around the world and have a really major impact.
The goal of this challenge is to create the official emblem of the new mobile version of Firefox. By "emblem" we mean an image we can use to represent the themes and value of Firefox for mobile in a wide variety of promotional spots. To be clear, we don't need a logo - the Firefox logo we all know and love will continue to work quite well for that purpose.
Before you start designing, here are some really important things to keep in mind:
- Don't be too literal. Instead, think about the abstract themes that mobile represents, such as:
- Convenience (the ability to take the Web with you wherever you go)
- Connectivity
- Innovation
- Accessibility
- "One Web" (whether it's on a desktop computer or mobile device)
- We strongly recommend not making phone imagery a major part of your design.
- Avoid text in your design.
- Focus on telling the story with imagery (for example, note how the Firefox 3 t-shirt design embodies community in a creative way).
- We need an emblem we can use for promotional purposes, not a logo for the product itself.
- Files should be uploaded as high-res (300dpi) PNGs or JPEGs. Be sure to hold onto the original working files, though, because if you win we will need those (and be sure to preserve the layers).
- Be sure to add a description to your design to share your thought process and provide additional details. It may help win you votes, too.
- Designs that are roughly as wide as they are high are preferred (rather than something that's extremely vertical or horizontal).
- The Firefox logo doesn't have to be part of your design, but if you want to include it you can grab the file here.
